Answer / venkat
let x+y=5000
(x+(10x/100))+(y+15y/100)=5600
then 110x+115y=560000
110x+115y=550000
------------------
5y=10000=========>y=2000
and at last x+y=5000=====>x+2000=5000===> x=3000
so answer is 3000(Male population)

Answer / hafiz ulla
Let no. of men be x
and no. of women be 5000 - x
Population increased from 5000 to 5600
i.e. 600
men increased % = 10% of x
And women increased % = 15% of (5000 - x)
so, 10% x + 15%(5000 - x) = 600
10/100 + 15/100(5000 - x) =600
10x + 75000 - 15x = 60000
-5x = -15000
x = 3000
So, the no. of males = 3000.

Total population 5000 now 10 & 15 % of 5000 are 500& 750. Again excess population is 5600 - 5000 i.e 600.
Now simple linkup formula ie 500 - 600 & 750 - 600 soo ratio becomes 150 : 100 i.e 3:2 i.e M = 3 & W = 2
Soo 3/5 of 5000 is 3000.
Soo total men is 3000

Soo 2/5 of 5000 is 2000.
Soo total men is 2000
