Selection of methanol in Kf having following reason.
1 prevent the side reaction between pyridine and SO2.
2 Many compound are soluble in MeOH.
3 MeOH not absorbed moisture and having very less water content.

the stoichiometry of H2O and I2 from 1:1 to 2:1, to prevent

the methanol is necessary to carried out the reaction becz the bunchen reaction is occur in presence of lower alcohol and methanol is a lower alcohol(bunchen reaction- basic reaction on which karlfisher is based)
