what is the measure of slump
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
A slump test is a method used to determine the consistency
of concrete. The consistency, or stiffness, indicates how
much water has been used in the mix. The stiffness of the
concrete mix should be matched to the requirements for the
finished product.
All concrete is a combination of aggregate (gravel and/or
sand), cement, and water, but the proportions of the mix
can be varied. A larger proportion of water causes a
softer, wet concrete mix, which is easier to handle during
the pour and requires less care during curing. It also
results in a slightly softer and less durable finished
product. A smaller amount of water causes a stiffer, wet
concrete mix, which is harder to manage but makes a
stronger and more durable finished product, one with a
higher concrete pounds per square inch (PSI).

Slump test is required to know work ability of concrete. For different purposes of concrete slump should be also different.According to reinforcement design and depth or height of structure slump should be different.
Slump test apparatus is cylindrical mould which height is 300 mm,upper dia is 100 mm and base dia is 200 mm.After fixing by nut bolt above bade plate we fill concrete in four layers and compacting by 16 mm dia and 600 mm long teppered steel rod by 25 stroke in each layer.
By this test we can maintain water cement ratio of concrete.

slump test measure the consistency of concrete. It measure the flow of concrete and the work-ability of concrete. We also know the water cement ratio in concrete. It is measure in millimeter(mm). It is measure in the slump cone after the concrete lay in the cone in three layer and each layer we temper 25 times. If we require concrete in pipe line slum value should be 100-120mm and if we directly pour the concrete the slump value should be 80-100mm
