what is the use of glycol filling in seal pot (or)
condensate pot in instrument impluse line?

Answer / jazz
the glycol serves as a calibrating fluid for your high and
low pressure impulse tubing of the dp transmitter. In this
way since glycol has a high boiling point and does not
evaporate easily, the calibration of your dp transmitter
remains the same as long as the level of glycol (the wet leg
compensating fluid)does not change. this serves also to
protect your transmitter's electronics from high temperature
since heat will be dissipated along the way on the impulse
tubing before reaching your transmitter..

Seal pots (sometime called condensate pots) are used
to allow a liquid seal between the instrument and flowing
gases such as steam. Their function is to keep the
liquid level constant in the impulse tubes. For example,
in boiler liquid level applications the high pressure (HP)
side of a differential pressure transmitter is connected
to the vapor space on top of the steam drum. Steam
condenses in the chamber or seal pot and fills the impuls
eline with condensate. The seal pot is located to
allow the condensate to drain back to the source thus
keeping the liquid level constant.

it serve as protection to the instrument.it contain glycerin
or water vapor.with the principles of pascals law.external
pressure will be undiminished.

if some meteriel come in impulse line he will block the
impulse line same like caustic sulphar thats why we fill
the glycol and also trasmiter superation and wet leg

The main purpose of filling Glycol is
(1) to avoid depositing of liquid with high density from the process which causes erratic reading. Glycol is having a density of more than 1.1 and normally liquids with less than this value will never settle down in the impulse line, giving a constant head which is suppressed or elevated to zero during the calibration.
(2)To transmit signals from process to transmitter where high viscous or solidifying products at ambient temperature is to be measured.Steam tracing can be avoided.

Glycol used to portect electrions compounts ofthe transimeter.incase process variable is low density &pressure ie:white petrol
is easily evapourte inthe impulse line so we are used it.it is withstand high tem(1000 degree) so it used steam line
