capacitor banks are highly used in substations for
increasing the power factor. depends upon the load type
highly used by the consumer its value is to be selected.But
most of the loads are inductive in nature.So the power
factor will be lagging in nature.In order to increase the
power factor upto unity level the capacitor banks are
used.But during midnight time the power consumed by the
consumer are very low.At the time we require low capacitor
bank values.It can be explained by the following
equations.we know that
C=Q/V and P=(3)1/2 VIcosO
As phase angle between the voltage and current increases in
the leading side means the power factor will be increased.

capaster bank is used in substation for example 132kv to
improve the power factor the capester bank rating is depend
upon the consumer because tn our country mostly enductive
load is used so at the day the sub station mens used
capester bank mostly but at night the consumer consumption
is less so the power factor improve ment is less at night
p=q/v
p=vicosphy

Hello, I am just preparing my self for a university interview and struck on the 11kv ring main unit system network. I just know that ring main unit has total three breakers, fuses and use to supply a power to any load/ building without any interrupt. But i am not be able to visualize the connections, either Ring main unit getting power from two different power sources? or there is always one feeder in complete ring circuit??? I would be highly thanks full of you help me.
