is it connected in the primary side or it is connected in
secondary side

Tapings are
connected to high
voltage winding
side, because of
low current. If we
connect tappings to
low voltage side,
sparks will produce
while tap changing
operation due to
high current. Not
depend on primary
or secondary.

tap changer is connected at ht side.
its not depend on primary or secondary winding but where the
ht side and lt side is been defined.
if primary winding is ht and secondary winding is lt then
tap changer will be at primary.

Tap Changer is always installed at HT side, since at HT side
current is low .
reasons for not installation at LT side
1.high current
2.when we have to change the tap there is little bit
sparking, and sparking cause gas production ,thus buchhloz
relay operate.

Tap changing are always provided in HV SIDE OF TRANSFORMERS
AS CURRENT IS LOW.

its on secondary side. if it is placed on primary side and
when the voltage is increased magnetic core will be saturated
and if the voltage is reduced the magnetic core is not fully
used...... and mostly tappings are provided on HV side because
the current on HV side is less where it is high on LT side. so
when short circuit occurs no damage will happen thats y
tappins are provided on HT side

actually we take o/p always at secondary side and tapping is used to adjust the o/p voltage, so tapping is done always at sec. side
