I have 1 KW, 3ph. 440v, 50 hz, cos(phi) .75, efficiency
75%(star delta connection)Motor. How to calculate line
current & Phase current (1) Star connection (2) delta
Connection

Answer / s c budhiraja
(1) First for star connections:line
current=1000/.75*1.73*.75*440=1.75 A for both line &
phase.
(2) For delta connections; Line current=1.75A
Phase current=1.75/1.73=1A
Note: There no use of Motor efficiency here.

Answer / michael
NOTE : YOU NEED MOTOR EFFICIENCY
BECAUSE IF THERE IS A RATING GIVEN
IN TERMS OF KW. IT IS ALWAYS THE
OUTPUT POWER OF THE MOTOR..
SO WEE NEED TO CONVERT IT TO
INPUT POWER IN ORDER TO COMPUTE THE
CURRENT.
