Star Delta use for starting of motor as during starting
motor take high current so we can reduce it through using

star delta starter are used for controlling starting current. as we know, when we start any motor/pump then motor takes 6 times if rated current as there is no back emf ins tarting(speed zero).
If we apply star circuit then the voltage will be one third of delta circuit, in the same way current will be reduced.
This is the answer.
One more thing that all the HT(6.6KV) motors also be in star to control the starting current and to save the cost of insulation for both motor and connected cable.

starters are used for the purpose of to reduse the starting current...
in star-delta starter motor starts in star connection at this time motor voltage reduses than 1/root3...
there fore current is also reduse 1/root3...
and after some time motor is automatically convert to delta mode through timer....

Stard delta starters are to avoid accident it works with
contactors it save energy.
do you want to know what is star delta
the motor whih has dol connection will consum more current
and the motor which as star connection will consume less
corrent that is the reson we use motors and star delta
starters
