why we r using alternator instead of d.c generator and
induction generator
Answer / guest
Eventhough altenators are associated with stability, still
we use alternators because of its inherent advantages.
1.when we are generating electricity from conventional
sources like thermal n hydal, the primemover input is in
our control so u can maintain constant speed. so we use
alternators because dese m/cs run at constant speed.
2. other advantage is powerfactor is in our control. By
changing the excitation we can control the power factor.
3.Cost is less when compared to same rated DC alternator.
