Answer / engineer bhai
yes we can run induction motor on 2 phase supply there are
three methods
1. first rotate the roter with some externel means and in
running condition of the motor switch on the supply.motor
will start running but in unbalanced and unstable condition.
2. connect a capacitor to one of the phase and give supply
to the motor with two already awailable phases and one with
the capacitor.capacitor will provide required phase
dispacement.motor will be more stable in this connection.
3. use scot connection of transformer to provide 3 phase
supply.

Yes we can run with two phases but the motor winding will
get heated up. which is bcoz of over loading the motor
power on two phases when the third phase is absent.

During starting of the machine, the IM can not be run
because there is no rotating magnitic field. But during
running, the IM can be run for a small period of time.

Yes we can operate 3 phase induction motor under 2 phase.
for the correct operation of 3 phase induction motor, we should have 3 phase with balance condition(i.e. 120 degree phase differance each other). if we have 2 phase with 120 degree phase differance then we can get another phase by connecting one capacitor with any of one phase.
but it is risky that if we run for more time then the motor winding may heated up. and may it burn. because we does not have axact 120 degree phase shift..

IM WILL RUN AT TWO PHASE BUT WHEN 1 PHASE IS AT ZERO
AMPLITUDE & OTHER AT NEGATIVE MAXIMUM IT WILL CAUSE A
MOMENTERILY JERK ON MOTOR CHANCES OF REVERSAL OF DIRECTION
TIME AFTER TIME & VIBRATIONS ARE MORE & EFFICIENCY DECREASES

Answer / pk
It may cause burning of winding of motor due to more loading on 2 phases

Answer / kotesh
when 3 phase supply is given to the 3 phase induction motor motor can rotate but we cant get 120 correct phase sequence so motor cant give balanced condition and efficiency also reduced finally motor wndg is heated ( no correct phase sequence) motor may damage

Why does the power consumed is always constant even if a fan speed is altered?
Is a contactor (or master relay) required between incoming lines and a VFD? The question goes to safety. If a contactor were used before the VFD and an e-stop engaged then the motor will coast to a stop (i.e. VFD loses power) instead of stopping much faster if the VFD braking fucntion were used. It would make more sense to keep power on the VFD.
