What is transposition in a transmision line?..

Answer / nigam kumar singh

by transposition of line means exchanging the position of
power conductors at regular intervals along the line so
that each conductor occupies the original position of every
other conductor over an eual distance. this transposition
of line is done mainly to reduce the interference between
transmission line and communication lines

What is transposition in a transmision line?..

Answer / dinesh (techie.dinesh@gmail.co

say there are 'n' number of conductors. assume that it is
wounded, then the mean length of the first and last or second
(whatever) conductor varies, due to varying length,
resistance varies(r= ρl/a), due to this varying resistances,
the current also varies, this may lead to unnecessary
circulating currents, which affects the performance.

this concept is mainly used in transformer windings.
sometimes the conductors are transposed in definite angle
and lengths. such conductors are called CTC(continuously
transposed conductors)

if there are 2 conductors,

in first turn
condctor 1 will be in position 1
conductor 2 will be in position 2

and in 2nd turn,
conductor 1 will be in position 2
conductor 2 will be in position 1

hope it helps
