KBr shows Absorbance in 2.4 -16 MICROMETER of IR REGION.
While other compound shows Transmittance in 2.4 -16
MICROMETER of IR REGION. & hence resolution is not achieved .
& for the purpose of resolution & background correction KBr
is the best option.

KBr could not have any absorbance in IR range, but Kcl have
absorbance and itis easily miscible with other samples for
analysis it is cheep and best available in market

KBr is optically transparent over the range of wavelengths
in the wavelength range of IR analysis. This means KBr does
not have any absorbance in IR region.

Actuly alkli halide are used for this perpose..because they
are inert and could not have any absorbance in IR range..so
we can use kcl instead of kBr...

Answer / parag parekh
we can use both kbr & kcl because they could not have any
absorbance in the ir region.
mostly for the compound having cloride group the kcl is
better option than kbr.
