Answer / parth belani
current and potential transformers used in the industries
are mainly of two types. One, which are used for protection
purpose. sencond type is of those which are used for
measuring purpose. The difference between them is their
saturation limit of the transformer core. Those which are
used for protection purpose should have higher saturation
limits.

Instrument transformers (potential & Current)used for
protection and metering purpose...Current transformers
which is used for protection is normally 5P20 class,
for differential protection i.e, PX class cts & Metering
0.2FS5 class Cts whose saturation value is very less...
For Voltage transformers 0.2 & 3P class for
metering,Protection...

current and potential x'mer are use for busbar protection.
In CT protection current is step down to lower value and
measured and gives signal to relay and same concept is use
for PT.

what is purpose of using neutral grounding transformer in generators??
A 400 V, 50 Hz, Δ connected synchronous generator has a field reactance of 0.1 Ω and armature resistance of 0.015 Ω. At full load, the machine supplies 1200 A at 0.8 pf lagging. Under full-load conditions, the friction and windage losses are 40 KW and the core losses are 30 KW. What is the machine’s overall efficiency? Ignore any field circuit losses.
