why neutral grounding transformer is used for generator and
why it is not used for transformers?
Answer / sunil kumar sinha
NGT is used for generator to limit earthfault current and
provide earthfault protection of generator stator. In case
of generator the voltage built up in the primary winding is
related to earth leakage current, hence NGT is charged to a
very low voltage, but the Transformer is always charged to
its rated voltage hence no such device is suitable either
to limit earthfauilt current or any kindf of protection.
