Sir,
how to calculate the voltage drop and short circuit current
of cable. please give me example and formulas.
Answer / mahavir jagdev
Any cable has some resistance for DC and an Impedence for AC. For voltage drop the simple formula V=IxR will tell you how much voltage drop will take place when I amps current is passed through thr resistance R of the cable.
The short circuit current will be the maximum value of the current which will pass when the voltage difference V is applied at the two eand of the currents having a resiatance R i:e V1-V2/R = voltage drop. Incase of a single phase 220 volts cable getting short circuited at any end the voltage drop is 220 and assuming the resistance to be R the short circuit current will be 230/R
