If you see the HRC fuse name plate. Its shown ampere rating
shown which is in many KA (like 80KA and so on). any body
explain what is meaning of this value?

Hi,
That is the short-circuit breaking capacity of that HRC
Fuse.

KA for any protective device is the Maximum Ampere rating
that the device can withstand for 1-3sec.its rated like
this because in some instances there will be high spike in
current.
And the Rated current of fuse is the current above which
the load should be protected beyond this rating.
KA depends on the system capacity and the rated current
depends on the load rating

Hi,
KA is the breaking capacity at the time of any shortcircuit
i.e u say in 80 KA for 1-3 seconds.
And the rating which was shown in the normal ampere is the
normal current carrying capacity of that conductor i.e u say
in 100 A.

I understand your predicament. But you will only have to
see the 100A which is written in your case and this is the
capacity of the fuse.
80KA is the rupturing capacity of the fuse which is not for
you but for system designers who want to know these things.

Hi nitin
.in fuse normal rating 100 amps means it can clear the
fault if the ckt current exceed 100 amps for some time to
melt the fuse wire.and another rating 80 Kilo amps means
its the with stand capacity of the fuse.that it can clear
upto the fault current of 80 Kilo Amps without damaging the
electrical system.so its called short time withstand
capacity of the fuse.

Thanks for reply...but i have little confusion on same.
Because in a fuse plate shows two types of ampere rating.
one is in only in amperes (like 100Amp fuse) and second,
shows in Kilo amperes (like 80KA on same fuse). then what
is meaning of 100A and what is the meaning of 80KA. Both
are written on same fuse.
If considered above answer, KA shows short ckt capacity
then Ampere reading of fuse what will show??
Please explain in details
