it has been found that induction motors, particularly the
squirrel cage type, sometimes exhibit a tendency to run
stably at a speeds as low as one-seventh of their
synchronous speed.it is known as crawling.

Crawling in an induction motor is caused by low supply
voltage, high loads, development of harmonics in the rotor,
possibly even design faults. Crawling can be caused when a
small change in load results in an angular displacement of
the rotor field with respect to the stator field a bit
similar to the synchronous motor operation. The effects of
crawling can be reduced by avoiding certain combinations of
stator and rotor slots or altering the position of rotor
bars(skewing).

The phenomenon of 3 phase Induction motor when runs at
1/7th of its full speed constantly due to the presence of
odd harmonics (generally 5th,7th) in the line is termed as
crawling.

Creating descriptive categories and file names for the
documents on
your website can not only help you keep your site better
organized,
but it could also lead to better crawling of your documents by
search engines. Also, it can create easier, "friendlier"
URLs for those
that want to link to your content. Visitors may be
intimidated by
extremely long and cryptic URLs that contain few
recognizable words.

The stable operation of induction motor near sub-synchronous speed Ns/7 is called crawling which is accompanied by much higher stator current, noise and vibration.
here Ns=asynchronous speed of induction motor
