Lap length is depends on various factors such as grade of
concrete used, load on the structures and economical
criteria.

Answer / irwin
Since the 36 mm dia bar is subject to compression, hence the the formula for the required lap is L=37(d)
where;
d=36
L=37(36)
L=1,332 (minimumn required lap for compression)

yes 50 dia of bars in thumb rule. but when you are going to
calculated it is diffrence in compression and tension zone.

Answer / mahendra mohan srivastava
Lap length will 50 d here d is dia of the bar.
and anchroge length will 58d. after 25d lap length will
joint through welding joint.

Actually its depend upon the design & grade of concrete.Its
normal practice to take 50 times of the diameter of steel
hence for 36 mm dia bar it should be taken 1800 mm.
