me brief calculation

Answer / amit mehta
Generally we assume 1 to 5 percentage steel in columns of
concrete.1 to 2 percent in beams,0.7 to 1% in slabs and .5
to .8% in footings.
if concrete is 100 cum.
than in column if we take 1.5% steel it will be 1.5 cum steel.
1.5x7850kg/cm3(density of steel.)
quantity of steel determined.

Approx, 1.5 to 2% steel in columns, 1 to 1.5% in beams & 0.7
to 1% in slabs (%age of Conc.)
if concrete is 100 cum in Column.
than we take min 1.5% and max. 2% steel.
It will be 1.5 cum to 2.0 cum steel.
1.5x7850= 11775kg/cm3 (min.)
2.0x7850= 15700kg/cm3 (max.)
(7850 is density of steel per cum)

Take 1 kg of steel per square feet area of the roof slab
which is enough and is a rough method normally followed by
me while calculating steel for the roof
While for the columns take one column and calculate it per
wight with the chart given in civil engineering and multiply
it with the no. of columns the steel obtained from one
columns and you will get the steel required in kgs
