Neutral - it is '0' potential point makes closed loop for
the flow of current. Earth - Neutral point is connected to
earth for grouding the neutral current. normally the
current in the neutral point is zero but practically it
will have some value when short circuit or voltage
imbalance happens.

Earth : its connected to the body of all critcal equipments
like motors, panels, DG transformer to prevent shock &
safety for all machines.
Neutral : its required to complete the flow of current in
closed ciruit.

Earth is a natural "0" reference point where voltage drop
becomes zero as there is almost zero resistance of the earth
due to which full voltage is built across; while the same
zero reference can be achieved artificially by making a
neutral point as in transformers.
But it may be noted that due to voltage unbalance, neutral
of the transformer may have some voltage and in the same way
due to bad earth resistance we may not get a perfect zero
reference from ground.
To overcome this problem, we can ground the neutral of a
transformer to the earth by making perfect earth pits; that
should necessarily be separate from general body earth mats.
