how to find 5 kilo meter long under ground 33 kv cable fault location if IR VALUE shows 0.05 M ohm @5000 volt.and cable fault locator shows some time fault distance 3 kilo meter ,3.7 kilo meter and some time 1 kilo meter? now how to find the fault location that where is leakage. note--it is tested with 5000 kv megger and insulation resistance is 0.05 M ohm. and some time 0.03 M ohm comes.

HPCL,
1484We have a couple of oil tanks at our plant. One of them does not have a lightning arrester installed. My question is it necessary to install an arrestor on every tank or will this particular one be covered by the arrestor installed on the ajdacent tank, Since all the tanks are close to each other. Basically, I want to know that if these arrestors or protection works in a parituclar area of effect or influence. Thanks

We have drive feeding an output contactor for a 5000 hp motor @ 5kV application. The motor FLA is 629amps x 1.25% service factor = 786.25 amps The cable that we current have in place between the drive and the output contactor is 350kcmil- MV-105 (parallel cables). Per the NEC table 310.60 (C) (69). This show the cable ampacity is at 615 amps per cable for a rating of 1230 amps. We have derated the cable for the cable tray and the multiple cables application and our calculations show that after the correction factor factor we are at 922amps. 1230 amps x .75% correction factor factor = 922.5 amps. The customer is driving us to then use another safety factor of .25% off of the already derated cable. Can you please provide a longhand calculation for your solution on this application?
