what will be happen if we apply D.C supply to the
transformer

Transformer has two windings primary & Secondary.
When AC supply is applied across primary, due to the
changing current flux will be produced & due to incuction
EMF will be induced in Secondary also.
Whereas in case of DC there is no change in current & no
induced EMF so the Transformer windings will get burnt

If You apply a dc supply in a tranformer the transformer
can not opearate. The transformer winding produced more heat
and finnay burn due to insulation failure.

as we know that it works on electro magnetic indsuction
law.when dc will apply on the primary so there is no induce
emf.as we know that in case of ac emf is imnduce whose
direction is to oppose applied voltage as like in case of dc
motors... this can be understand by lenz law...
so because of no opposition it will draw more current as
compare 2 ac case... oviously it will burnt... but there
will be 1 spike in 2ndry

IF DC SUPPLY IS APPLIED 2 TRANSFORMER, THERE WOUNT B ANY
RATE OF CHANG OF FLUX IN THE PRIMARY COIL. THUS THIS NON
CHANGING FLUX B INDUCED TO THE SECONDRY. SO NOW ONLY 1
SPIKE OF TRANFORMED FLUX WILL APPEAR THERE, SOONLY A
MOMENTOUS VARYING CURRENT WILL BE OBSERVED IN THE SECONDRY
OUTPUT. AFTER THAT SPIKE THERE WILL BE NO OUTPUT. IN
OVERALL THE TRANSFORMER WOUNT FUNCTION.

constant flux will be produced so nno chage in flux,so no
emf induced ...& due to low resistance of wdg ,current will
be more n more heat so wdg get burn out

According to Volt-Amps balance, B is directly proportional to integeration of the voltage wrt time. Therefore for a D.C. supply the it will be tremondously increasing and will burn the insulation due to absence of back emf and the transformer will damaged due to intense heating.....

Answer / nithin shaju
Applying DC power to a transformer will not step up/down
the voltage, since the current reaches its peak within
milliseconds and remain constant. Therefore no induction
happens. So secondary voltage is induced only during the
current growing period (millisec). After that as long as
there is no fluctuation, sec voltage will be 0.
There is no
problem in connecting dc power suppply to a
transformer.Only winding resistance is taken into
account. But if the current is too high there is a chance of
burning the insulation.

if you apply dc current in tarnsformer no change will occur
because mutual induction does not takes place on the other
hand your transformer will definetly get burn due to over
heating of windings.

as we know that it works on electro magnetic induction. when we applied d.c voltage across the primary winding a flux of constant magnitude will be set up in the core. hence there will be not be any self induced e.m.f in the primary winding to oppose the applied voltage.so it will draw more current as compare 2 a.c as a result it will burn the primary winding and damage the transformer this is bec d.c flow in a straight line so their is no rate of change of flux linkages as in a.c

Dear all Transformer get become electro magnet if you give DC supply. And one more thing we have to understand which transformer will get burn only the high range of DC voltage applied between terminals. If anyone deny this reason and please let me know how the electro magnet will works ?
