SCM CT is a normal ct , which is connected with generator output terminal , and CT's Terminal are connected with AVR . Depending on the load on the generator , the current increases & Accordingly SCM CT gives the input to the AVR so as to develop the required field to generate the same load without any dip in the voltage.

when we are going to higher voltage level in substations why we are using Sf6 circuit breakers instead of Vacuum circuit breakers.
We use ungrounded DC system (220V/110V) for control and protection system in substations etc. Suppose we have long 2 core DC cables running from our DCDB in control room to the load (length of around 2 to 3 km). Do we need to protect these long DC cables from earth leakages or not? If yes how?
