when dc power is given steady magnetic field is produced
&emf induce in the inductor E=l di/dt & here current is
constant & emf induce is zero so primary winding burn

i appreciate mr william lobos concern and timely advice but
this is a question for one to think and make a analytical
answer which is correct for the answerer but may be wrong also.
the transformer will act as an inductor, it will burn out or
not depends on the transformers design and voltage applied
across. there will be no voltages induced in the secondary
because there is no change in flux other than when you "on"
& "off" it.

if we give dc supply to a ac tf, winding will burn due to
short ckt of secondary wdg, because high current will
produce in the wdg.

if we supply DC power to AC Transformer the primary winding will burn,it not effects to secondary winding because the AC transformers are magnetically coupled not electrically. Transformer works on the principle of mutual induction of two coils.

when dc supply is given to the transformer momentary emf will be generated at the secondary side and will collapse suddenly.
because flux does not change periodically due to dc supply.it changes only when it is switched from off to on or on to off.
primary coil may burn but Burning or not burning of primary depends on design consideration whether it can carry current according to applied voltage or not.because for dc,inductance will be zero so resistance of primary will be less than ac impedance, so current and I^2R loss will increase may cause to burn.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE BEST CURRENT RATINGS (PRIMARY / SECONDARY)FOR A CT INSTALLED AT THE INCOMING 11KV PANE? WILL IT BE CALCULATED ON THE BASES OF MAXIMUM DEMANT VALUE OR ON SUM OF ALL TRANSFORMER'S KVA?
