if we supply DC power to AC transformer then what its result?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
when dc supply is given to the transformer momentary emf will be generated at the secondary side and will collapse suddenly.
because flux does not change periodically due to dc supply.it changes only when it is switched from off to on or on to off.
primary coil may burn but Burning or not burning of primary depends on design consideration whether it can carry current according to applied voltage or not.because for dc,inductance will be zero so resistance of primary will be less than ac impedance, so current and I^2R loss will increase.

We know that transformer coil is highly inductive and low resistive.so if we apply the dc voltage in primary coil then a heavy current flows to the coil .that causes a heating effect produce .by this heating transformer coil may burn .for this reason we do not apply dc on transformer coil .

Real electrical engineers or electricians will not take
such risks. Most electrical equipment is very costly and as
electrical personnel it is my sincere request not to play
with electrical equipment but respect it and take all
correct steps to ensure that proper tests are done before
any switching on is done. My one policy is an electrician
can check 10times but mistake takes place only once. BOOM.

Electricty is generated at around 16kV, then step up to 220kV for transmission then steped down to power transformers then DTs and then through the LT n/w it reaches the consumer end. At the consumer end 230V supply is required. So, why is electricity not generated directly at 230V and transmitted?
