Question { Bhushan Power Steel, 23771 }

What is C.T, why it is used and what care should be taken
for that while connecting?

Answer

CT means Current Transformer, It is used to measure the
higher value current flowing through the circuit.
CT should be connected in such a way that the current
should enter from the P1(primary) & leave from P2, Also on
secodary side S1 & S2 should be connected with correct
sequency other wise the meter will not sense the current,
While CT is not in use, we should short the S1 & S2
(Secondary) of the CT to avoid saturation of the CT.
If the seconday of loaded CT will be kept open it will get
saturated & burst.

Question { 58055 }

why electric shock due to dc is dangerous than that of ac

Answer

In Ac, due to sine wave, the voltage wave is coming to zero
at some instant during this time there is chance to get
released from the sock, but in DC the waveform is straight
& not coming to zero at any instant, So there is no any
chance to get released from the sock.

Question { KSEB, 50826 }

Why all voltage levels are the multiples of 11KV?

Answer

All the power generation units generates energy which is
the average value.
We required to use RMS value of the electrical quantities.
So all the average value is multiplies by the form factor
(1.11) to give RMS value, so the all the voltage levels are
multiple of 1.11.

Question { L&T, 15470 }

Hai I have 2500KVA,Transformer,13.8KV/380.DELTA/STAR.How
much load that I can take interms of current?How can I
calculate also when I have loads in KW?

Answer

Are Karani,
I think you are not electrical engineer, it is a basic
thing,
You just calculate through following formulas :
KW= 1.732 * V * I * Cosphi

KVA=1.732 * V * I
So, I= 1.732*1000/(V * I)

Question { Dubai Group, 60474 }

WHAT IS THE THUMB RULE FOR DECIDING THE CURRENT RATING OF
COPPER WIRES SAY 2.5/4/6/10 MM SQUARE SIZES??

Answer

There is no any thumb rule, therer is a standard table from
which we can know the capacity of the cable.
The current carrying capacity is depend upon the size of
conductor(Cross sectional area)

Question { 5438 }

During he starting up of the motor, the upstream's MCCB
(350A) always trips due to the UVT relay activated.
Can Star-delta starter use for a 20kW Motor (For a powder
mixer machine) cause voltage-dip in the supply line voltage?
If so, what are the recommended solution to
eliminate/reduce the transient voltage dip in the line
voltage?

Answer

You can check the length of the cable from the supply to
motor, I think It will be more so that due to line
resistance loss during starting the line voltage will go
down for the fraction of seconds.
please mention the connected load, transformer capacity,
volatge incoming etc for further clear answer.

Question { 20551 }

whats the one main difference between UPS & inverter ?
And electrical engineering & electronics engineering ?

Answer

Dear sripellirajukumar,
I think UPS is uninterrupted power supply where the out put
voltage is present all the time, while in inverter the out
put voltage will be available at the time of mains failure
only.
