no way....there is no possibilty of burning down ....
ya there is iron loss will occur n negligible copper loss in
primary bt it will not burn down d transformer.....

The POWER TRANSFORMERS cannot burn when supplied and
unloaded as it will draw magnetising current only.To add a
little info,I think the phenomena is applicable to CURRENT
TRANSFORMERS due to saturation of the core not on power
transformers.

current transformer balance the power level on both sides. e.g in case of step up, at secondary side voltage rise but current decrease and vice versa in case of step down transformer. but how this power level remains same in case of current transformer and voltage transformer
