In case of a step up transformer, supplying to the secondary
would produce a stepped down voltage at its primary.And in
step own transformers its vice-versa.

There is not structural difference in between primary and
secondary winding.Bothe winding can be used to give
input.If your transformer ratio os 1:2 , if you used
opposite it will be work as a 2:1 transformer.
