can we connect both delta and star to the transformer
secondary and for what reason?

Answer / pruthi
yes we can but delta connection is mainly used to reduce the
harmonics which defines the quality of signal..

Answer / power srikanth
yes....for transmission we connect secondary in delta and
for distribution we connect in star fashion becoz in star
neutral wire is available

Answer / raul
yes, it is possible n frequently used ............delta is
connected to act as a tertiary winding which reduces the
harmonic contents of the induced currents, suppresses the
earth fault currents, providing auxiliary loads etc. and
the star is normally connected for d desired purposes i.e.
stepping up in case of DELTA STAR connection etc

suppose in transformer one side of coil of each phase can
connect to ground potential. It means that the insulation
strength of transformer can be reduced compared with Delta
connection . It realize cost down of transformer. Delta
connected coil need same insulation strength on both side
of coil, so it need more cost for insulation. But in Star
connection, harmonics problem will appear. In case of Delta
connection, harmonics current is circulating in delta-
connected coils and not appear in distribution line. If the
harmonic current was there, it will be a cause of over heat
of lead-phase capacitor, lag-phase inductance and
transformaer.

Answer / gunasekaran
no it is star only because that voltage level tr sec is the
souce end souce end is always earthed why because 1.earth
faylt current getting closed path another one is avoid the
resonance grounding

I am new guy as an electrical engr. in a 100MW HFO based power project. I am in operations division. I have noticed from last few days, my supervisor sends the last 24 hours energy generation calculation to my plant manager. I have noticed, he calculated last 24 hour's generated energy differences in KWH then he multiplied it with a multiplying factor 960. for example: total difference =2.685 KWH*960= 2577.6 MWH. but he does not not know what is multiplying factor 960?? can anybody explain it??
