Is it possible to power factor more than unity?..

Answer / rinto

no, it is not poosible to be the power facto more than
unity. because, cosine function has a maximum value 1 which
represents the p.f

Is it possible to power factor more than unity?..

Answer / rakesh

no, power factor can never be more than unity.

power factor is the ratio of real power delivered to the
apparent power.

=> pf = P/|S|
where P = real power,
s = complex power. s= sqrt(p^2 + q^2)
this means at most p can be equal to |s| if Q
i.e reactive power is zero.

so at most power factor can be unity.

real power (p)= v*i*cos(angle)
and apparent power = v*i

and that's why pf comes cos(angle).

Is it possible to power factor more than unity?..

Answer / shafi

No, Its not possible because cosine never more than 1

Is This Answer Correct ?    7 Yes 0 No

Is it possible to power factor more than unity?..

Answer / shahid arafat

power factor = cosine of angle between v&I & angle cannot
be less than zero
cos0 = 1 if angle increases p.f will decrese
cos 30=0.8
cos 60=0.5
cos 0=1 there fore p.f cant be less than unity

Is This Answer Correct ?    4 Yes 0 No

Is it possible to power factor more than unity?..

Answer / mr.sharif

Actually P.F is related to the loads so it is not possible
for the P.F to beyond unity,If it goes beyond unity then it
is treated as power source & it is no more called as load

Is This Answer Correct ?    2 Yes 1 No
