engine, how ever petrol is better fuel than diesel?

In desiel engine we use compresse air and inject fuel due
to which combustion take place. But in petrol engine we use
fuel air mixture which compressed and spark at the end of
compression.

Because the spark plug is not suficient to ignite the
mixture of diesel and air as diesel is heavier fuel than
the petrol. It compresses at high temprature and pressure
such that self ignition takes place and this is done by the
means of the fuel injector.

Diesel Engine works under the principle of Compression
Ignition(CI), where Petrol Engine works under the Principle
of Spark Ignition(SI).

Answer / rahul nagane
Obiviously, Diesel engine works on the principal of
compression ignition(C.I.) and petrol engine on Spark
Ignition(S.I.).
Self ignition temp. of petrol is more than that of
diesel. In C.I. engine at the end of compression stroke due
to the compression of air fuel mixture temp. is enough for
auto ignition of air fuel mixture. So there is no need of
Spark plug in C.I. engine.

Self ignition temparature of petrol is more than that of
diesel..in other words..the fire point of petrol is more
than the fire point of diesel ..so for petrol external heat
supply(spark plug) is needed..

Answer / surjeeth
compression ratio is high in diesel compare to petrol engine.
so spark plug is not need for diesel engine.

The octane number increases self ignition temp. & Cetane
number decreases. petrol have high octane no. & Diesel have
low cetane no.

Answer / niranjan kumar
as we know if we design diesel engine like petrol its
compression ratio will be low. so the diesel+air mix will
not reach to fire point temp of diesel .and after spark the
reaction time will be very high . ibn that time piston can
reach to bdc so burning of fuel will be waist. and it stop
the piston at bdc due to burning .and jurk ll be there. so
low efficiency..........and no working. or we work on
diesel engine then due to CR IT WILL GAIN ITS FIRE POINT
TEMP. SO SELF IGNITED. SO NO REQ OF SPARK.........K BUT ONE
CONFUSION WHY WE INJECT DIESEL INSTEAD OF MIXING WITH
AIR??????????
Is This Answer Correct ? | 4 Yes | 2 No |
diesel has its fire point at 210 degree c and petrol has 246 degree celcius so simply the petrol does need a spark to ignite wich is not avialable in disel engine so diesel engine with petrol cant work due to failiure of combustion of fuel. but in case of petrol engine with diesel it will run but with improper combustion of fuel.
