To calculate the subtransient and transient reactances of an alternator, follow these steps:
1. Determine the short-circuit current (I_sc) of the alternator.
2. Measure or find the subtransient impedance (Z_sub) at the generator terminals.
3. Calculate the subtransient reactance (X_sub) using the following formula: X_sub = Z_sub * cos(phi_sub), where phi_sub is the phase angle of the subtransient impedance.
4. Similarly, measure or find the transient impedance (Z_trans) at the generator terminals.
5. Calculate the transient reactance (X_trans) using the same formula: X_trans = Z_trans * cos(phi_trans), where phi_trans is the phase angle of the transient impedance.
