what is gear ratio & how it can calculate
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / phani
N2/N1=T1/T2
here N1= Drive speed
N2= Driven speed
as well as T1= Drive Gear Teeth
T2= Driven gear Teeth
Ex: Gear Ratio is 1:8
this means if the drive N1 rotates with 1000rpm, the driven
speed is 8000rpm.

Answer / karthick
i think speed ratio is otherwise called as gear ratio.gear
ratio can be determined by the following equation:
N2/N1=T1/T2
T1-no of teeth present in driving wheel
T2-no of teeth present in driven wheel
N1-speed of the driving wheel
N2-speed of the driven wheel

Answer / manik singh
gear ratio is also called as speed ratio.
G.R= N1/N2= T2/T1
N1= Speed of the driving wheel.
N2= speed of the driven wheel.
T1= no. of teeth on driving wheel.
T2= no. of teeth on driven wheel.

Answer / ravi gupta
gear ratio is defined as the ratio of least no of teeth on
gear to the least no. of teeth of pinion.
G=T/t
T=no.of teeth on gear
t=no.of teeth on pinion
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 19 Yes | 4 No |
Answer / pjagan89
Gear ratio is defined as the ratio of number of teeth on the
gear to the number of teeth on the pinion.
G= T/t
T- Number of teeth on the gear.
t= number of teeth on the pinion.

Answer / ayan
Gear ratio is the ratio of number of teeth in driving wheel to number if teeth in driven wheel.
G.R=N1/N2 -
where N1=number of teeth in driving wheel
N2=number if teeth in driven wheel.
