what is the difference between diode and zener diode?..

Answer / duraisamy

A Zener diode is a type of diode that permits current not
only in the forward direction like a normal diode, but also
in the reverse direction if the voltage is larger than the
breakdown voltage known as "Zener knee voltage" or "Zener
voltage". The device was named after Clarence Zener, who
discovered this electrical property.

what is the difference between diode and zener diode?..

Answer / raghavendra

Difference between diode and zener diode
1. Diode can conduct current only in one direction, whereas zener diode allows the conduction in both directions.
2. A normal diode will be permanently damaged for a large reverse current, but a zener diode will not.
3. Amount of doping for P and N semiconductor layers are different in the two devices.
4. Diodes are normally used for rectification, whereas zener diodes are used for voltage regulation.

what is the difference between diode and zener diode?..

Answer / tunjexmedia

A rectifier diode basically conducts current without a
speculated range or limit whilst the zener has a specified
limit of operation...
A diode is uncontrollable in operation yet a zener is...
A zener operates within the beakdown region in reverse and a
diode only conducts when in forward bias...

what is the difference between diode and zener diode?..

Answer / shashi

A simple diode works only in the direction of forward bias
to reverse bias and zener diode works in both direction
forward bias to reverse bias and also from reverse bias to
forward bias. In zener diode breakdown voltage occcur but
in simple diode breakdown voltage does not exist.

what is the difference between diode and zener diode?..

Answer / chaitanya

zener and diode both differ in their operation of
breakdowns.in a diode it conducts current during the
forward bias and doesnt allow the flow of current in
reverse bias.only we can see the leakage current.whereas in
zener it acts as a regulator in reverse bias
