Answer / raven
it is placed in long cylinder which is internally connected
to transformer. This gel absorbs any moisture preset in
transformer,it changes its color/state indicating it is time
to replace the gel with a new one. There is no fan present
near silicon gel as far as i know.I visited loco shed of
railways where there are huge transformers.
Well i hope this is correct. :)

answer 1 is correce.
The air in a transformer expands as the transformer heats,
and contracts as it cools. This causes the air flow. This
expansion of gasses is the reason that the transformer is
open to air.
Some transformers have a bladder seperating the transformer
oil/air and the outside air, and dont need this silica gel.

way air can get into or get out of the transformer so
whenever there is some movement of air it passes through the
silica gell
