DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND CONTROL CABLES..

Answer / rvg

Power cable mainly intend to use transfer of power,
specifically current, over a defenite length.
According to the rating there will be change in the no. of
starnds etc for a.c.

control cables are mostly paired cables ,sometimes more
flexible than power cable. and are not intend to carry more
than 10A.(max.).

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND CONTROL CABLES..

Answer / shahulsnfa

there are voltage levels in power transfer.. two types of
voltage is there, one is control voltage and power voltage.
control voltage starts from (0-230), power voltage from
0 - 433kv.. so depending upon the application we are
distinguishing.. even the same 230 v can be used as control
as well as power voltage also....

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND CONTROL CABLES..

Answer / tarun aggarwal

the power which is gernated in a station has high potential
and are transmitted by power cable like aac acsr etc which
have large diameter or high no.of strands. while control
cables are used in stations to control various activities of
equipments in stations like colling fan scontrols panel etc
in hydro plants also they are more flexible

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND CONTROL CABLES..

Answer / ashokkumar

According to cable types and size
1Cx2.5sq.mm to 4CxMax. Sq mm - Power cables

3Cx1.5sq.mm to 27Cx2.5sq.mm-Control Cables

Control Cables are available in 1.5sq.mm and 2.5sq.mm-Only
in Cu.
Power Cables are available from 1Core to 4Core and 2.5sq.mm
to 630sq.mm in Al. and Cu

Power cable is connecting the Power circuit. whereas control
cables is connecting the control circuit.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND CONTROL CABLES..

Answer / dinesh kakatkar

for the control of any circui few amperes of current is
required so normally we use a small cross-sectional wires.
This current can be mA to Few Ampers and risk of FAULT
current flowing is less and normally a single phase so we
require a small cable of 2 core or 3 core or less cross-
section.

The power cables is used depending on the application in
the Amperes to KA and the FAULT current is more and in the
range of KA.So the application of this cable is to supply a
several Ampere of current and Voltage ranging from the 230
V to Several KV depending on the load.So this cable is
called power cable as it is used to feed power.

Even based upon the application the cables are called as
Power and Control Cables.

Sir, My doubt on cable sizing calculation, Load:74 KW calculated cable 1 run 50mm2. Now client asking us to reduce cable size by increasing runs. Sir, My question now when my mind strikes with 2 options 1) Divide load 74/2 = 36 and calculate cable for 36+36 making it 2 runs or 2) Simply i can divide 50mm2 /2 ie. 2 runs of 25mm2 Please suggest me sir
