Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / serwox

Reasons are as follows:
Efficiency of one 3 phase transformer is slightly higher
than the overall efficiency of three single phase transformers.

Space and weight is greater for the 3 single phase tx than 1
single 3 phase tx hence cheaper to transport a 3 phase tx.

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / manthesh

we can surely use three 1-phase transformer but it cost more
than the single 3-phase transformer and maintenance cost is
high for three 1-phase transformers

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / s.p.arya

For the same rating we mostly using single 3-phase x-mer instead of the three 1-phase x-mer becoz 1. low floor space required for their installation 2.light weighted 3.cost is 15% less 4.maintenance & handling is suitable compair than three 1-phase x-mers

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / michael

We use 3 single phase transformer connected in DELTA instead of 1 single phase transformer because of:
1. space consumption
2. higher cost
3. for example 1 transformer in 3 single phase connected in delta fails to operate, still there is 2 transformer running open delta and still there is a supply in other line, rather than if 1 single phase transformer fails.

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / pragati

As compared to a bank of single phase transformers, the main
advantages of a 3 phase transformer is that it occupies less
floor space, less weight, cost is less for about 15% and the
only unit is to be handled and connected.we can save iron.
saving in iron is due to the joint use of magnetic paths
between the coils.

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / debashis das

Any where(motor, dianamo etc) using 3phase instead of 1
phase icrease the efficiency of convertion and also cost
saving.

Why we are mostly using a single 3-phase transformer instead of three 1-phase transformers?..

Answer / ramkumar

one Three phase transformer will occupy less space compare
to 1 phase transformer and also maintenence is much high.
