Well, it is an interesting prompt in Cognos. The generated
prompt is used whenever we are not sure which prompt to use
in the report. When we use generated prompt, it will change
itself into a suitable prompt based on the column type
which is associated with it.

If we want to select single value in text datatype in the
prompt, it will change into a value prompt.

If we want to select multiple values in the prompt, it will
change into a list box.

If we want to select single value in number datatype in the
prompt, it will change into a text box prompt.

If we want to select the range between to values in number
datatype, it will change into intervals (2 text box
prompts) asking for the range.

If we want to give the range between to values in text, it
will change into two value prompts.

We can predefine which prompt should be displayed for the
chosen column properties in the Framework Manager.

The above specified prompts are defaults.

Generated Prompt is a prompt which is made on data type of
Query Item. For Example Go Sales and Retails Package take
Product Line and then click on Build Prompt Page, then by
default Value Prompt would be displayed.

When you don't know which prompt would be suitable to
desired Query Item.

Generated prompt is different from other prompts..

Suppose we do know exact data(Query item) in Query Subjects(Columns in report), then we should select the Generated prompt.

When we run the report, the generated look the data in that column and generate the required prompt.
Like suppose if there is Date in that Column, it generates a Date Prompt, suppose it there is names in Column, then it generates Value prompt.

Hi, I got a requirement wehre in in a drill through report , in parent report i have a column of numbers on which i have to apply drill through to child report.The condition is in that column if the number ia not zero the drill through link should appear (i.e., 1 to 9) if its 0 or negative number link should not appear.
