Fire: Fire is a phenoena of chemical process which occurs
when a fuel(source) gets ignited by heat(Motivator) and
cotinues in presence oxygen(sustainer).
** when a fire occurs the resultant products are smoke,
heat and light.
Smoke detectors: Smoke detectors detects the presence of
smoke and initiates an change in circuit to trigger an
alarm/smoke presence.
There are basically two main types of smoke detector used
for smoke detection they are (a) Ionisation type and (b)
Optic type(poto electric).
Fire Detectors: Detects the presence of Light, They come in
varieties in sensing elements such as LDR, Poto diode, etc..
When comes to the area of hydrocarbon fires, these fuels
have an tendency to emit ultraviolet(UV) and Infrared (IR)
light frequency wave lengths. so where UV, ir, UV/ir
detectors are used.
In Breif: Fire Detector detects the light and Smoke
detectors detcts the presence of smoke.

Fire detector is a common name for all type of detectors to
find fire. Smoke detector is one type of fire detector. If
you have a smoke detector in a pantry it will give always
alarm. so there you have to fix heat detector. If you are
using a smoke or heat detector in a substation you will get
an alarm too late. So A uv detector will be better or you
can use one uv and one smoke detector. Basically all are
intended to indicate a chance of fire.
