why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Free wheeling diodes are used whenever inductive loads are
switched off by silicon components: in relay drivers,
H-bridge motor drivers, and so on. A switched-mode power
supply also exploits this effect, but the energy is not
dissipated to heat but used for pumping additional charge
through the load.
this is the reason......

Freewheeling diode improves the input power factor by avoiding voltage reversal. This diode safely dissipates the energy stored in the inductive load when the thyristor is turned off.

During the positive half cycle inductor charge as same as the polarity of the dc output voltage. When the negative half cycle started, the inductor will act as a source and it will make the freewheeling diode forward bias. Hence the output voltage become zero and the inductor current will gradually reduce. So that in the output, the current will be there even the output voltage is zero.

As name indicates the free wheeling diod gives free moment
to the current through the inductor while discharging mode
of operation. it reducess the voltage loss in the inductive
load.
