What is memristor? How many modes it works? Also what is its advantage? How it differ from others & why the name evolve? & What is its uses?
Answer / Kunj Bihari
A Memristor is a two-terminal passive electronic device that exhibits a voltage-dependent resistance. It was first proposed by Leon Chua in 1971 and discovered experimentally in 2008. A memristor has one resistive state per each history of applied voltage, which explains its name: it is a memory resistor. Memristors can work in two modes: analog mode (continuous time) and digital mode (discrete time). The advantage of memristors over other electronic devices lies in their high density, non-volatility, and ability to perform computation directly within the device itself without requiring additional circuitry. They differ from traditional resistors because they can remember their past history. Memristors find applications in neuromorphic computing, artificial intelligence, and memory storage.
