Mention what are three regions of operation of mosfet and how are they used?
Answer / Chiranjeev Narayan
1. Ohmic Region: In this region, the drain-source voltage (Vds) is lower than the threshold voltage (Vt), and the MOSFET acts as a simple resistor. This region is not commonly used for amplification.
2. Active Region: In this region, Vgs > Vt, and Vds < Vds(sat), the MOSFET operates as an amplifier or switch. The drain current (Id) is proportional to Vgs in this region.
3. Saturation Region: In this region, Vgs > Vt, and Vds > Vds(sat), the MOSFET acts like a closed switch with Id approaching its maximum value. This region is commonly used for amplification.
