What is meant by line losses, how do you prevent the losses?

Answer / r. anand
Line loss means power loss occuring during transmission of
Electric power. It is mainly due to copper loss(I2R). The
best way to reduce this is by increasing the voltage by
using a step up transformer, because when stepping up the
voltage, current decreases proportionatily. when I
decreases, I2 also will. Thus altogether I2R will decrease.

Line loss means loss due to I2R effect. That is the heating
loss in the transmission line. It is equal to Current
square multiply by resistance of total line.
It can be reduced by reducing the resistance of the line
ie. by increasing the diameter of wire. Or by sending the
same wattage, reduce current and proportionally increase
the voltage.

line losses can be divided as 1) copper losses 2) reactive
power loss 3) corona loss. copper loss mostly depends on
current flowing through the line & resistance of the
conductor.so try to keep these two values to minimum by
increasing system voltage& selecting proper size conductor.
reactive losses can be reduced by managing line loading
nearer to SIL conditions.the corona loss can be reduced by
increasing conductor size or using hallow size conductors.

how to fit 3 HP crompton gear motor with conveyor with the use of staring delta starter or ordinary starter?
The initial current is very large at the time of starting for almost all DC motors. SO WE USE STARTER FOR A SAFE STARTING but at our homes we don’t see any starters in our coolers, motors.WHY DON’T WE NEED STARTERS FOR THESE APPLIANCES?

1. for eg, capacitor is used for many purposes(it act as filter, oscillator, bypass capacitor, memory storage etc...) 2. Please tell me some example circuits for different uses of capacitor( whenever and whereever and however we used capacitor as a filter, oscillator tuning etc..) 3. similarly for inductor and resistors(it act as what?) and when and how we want to act as like that?, and how we can used these components depends upon our requirments with example circuits and explanation? design to act as these components depends
