What are different types of column based on loading?
Answer / Bhushan Sitaram Wahane
Columns can be categorized based on the type and direction of the applied load. The three main categories are: (1) Axially loaded columns (subjected to compressive force only), (2) Laterally loaded columns (subjected to bending moment and shear force), and (3) Combined loaded columns (subjected to both axial and lateral loads). Within each category, there are further subcategories such as short columns, slender columns, eccentrically loaded columns, etc.
