Induction generators, also known as synchronous generators, cannot perform black-start because they require an external power source to be synchronized with the grid before they can generate electricity. This makes them dependent on the existing power supply for starting up. On the other hand, Synchronous Condensers or Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) can perform black-start as they are capable of providing both reactive and active power without an external power source. Apart from Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), induction generators are commonly used in traditional power plants like coal, gas, hydro, and nuclear.

I am a possesor of c licence from 1993. I forgot to renew during the year 1998. During that time I was working at TNEB to till date. Is there any possibility to get renewed? or to apply for a new one?
