Gland is a device to hold the cable end which is connected to the equipment for providing mechanical strength.

cable gland is mainly used for armoured cables...gland used
for main reason is to support a mechanical strenght of the
cable and another reason is used for earth....in that gland
we shall connect extra clip in outer surface that is earth
clip(copper)...

Cable gland is used for connecting the cables to panels,DB.
It is also called as end terminal of the cable which have a provison for connection to panels,DB(INCOMER AND OUTGOING FEEDERS)
