how to calculate the starting current of a motor? gopal..

Answer / ajai shukla

It depends upon that motor is under load condition for mechanical free.
If motor is under load then I will take 2 to 3 times of full load current. Keep in mind that motor is running in DOL starter.
Under no mechanical coupling it will take 1.5 times of full load current.
