On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) transformers can save energy compared to Off-Line transformers due to their ability to optimize the tap position based on load conditions. This reduces the amount of current flowing through the transformer, which in turn reduces losses (I^2R loss).nAs for replacing Off-Line transformers with OLTC transformers, it may be economically viable under certain circumstances such as high energy consumption, frequent load changes, or a need to improve system efficiency. However, the cost-effectiveness of such replacement depends on various factors like installation costs, operating costs, and the specific requirements of the electrical system.
