AVR means automatic volatage regulator these are used in
alternators and dg sets.
stabilizer is maintain contant output voltage if various
inputs

In stabilizer input voltage may be slightly different from the output voltage which is constant . In case of regulator, output voltage remains constant at a chosen value which can be varied at will.
