why does a dc machine has high efficiency while working as a generator than as a motor ..
Answer / Meenakshi Singh
A DC machine (both generator and motor) operates with certain losses, but the efficiency varies depending on whether it is generating or motoring. As a generator, the DC machine converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, which requires less resistance in the armature circuit. This results in lower losses and higher efficiency. On the other hand, as a motor, the DC machine consumes electrical energy and needs to overcome its own resistance, resulting in higher losses and lower efficiency.
